Paul Sabila

Dr. Paul Sabila is a Professor of Chemistry at Gallaudet University, affiliated with the School of Science, Technology, Accessibility, Mathematics, and Public Health. He has been with the institution since 2008, advancing from Assistant Professor (2008-2012) to Associate Professor (2012-2016), and his current rank since 2016. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Connecticut (2006) and a B.Sc. in Chemistry (summa cum laude) from the University of Nairobi (1999). Prior to academia, he worked in pharmaceutical quality control and medical sales in Kenya.

His teaching portfolio includes core Organic Chemistry lectures and labs (CHE-211/212/213/214), Forensic Science (CHE-250), and senior capstone courses (STM-403/CHE-403). He has also contributed to courses in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and General Chemistry. Recent advising roles include overseeing honors capstone projects in Biology and Chemistry.

Dr. Sabila’s professional service includes committee memberships and grant-funded initiatives such as the NSF-supported Center for Integrated Quantum Materials (CIQM) and an MRI X-Ray Diffractometer project (NSF/UDC). He served as Director of the CSTR Program from 2021 to 2023. His work integrates accessibility and pedagogical innovation in STEM education.
