Paul R. Tremblay

Paul R. Tremblay is a Clinical Professor and the Dean’s Distinguished Scholar at Boston College Law School, where he has been a faculty member since 1982. He served as Associate Dean for Experiential Learning from 2012 to 2015, founded the Community Enterprise Clinic in 2008 (directed until 2024), and will lead the Dublin Semester in Practice Program in Spring 2025. He holds significant roles including membership on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s Standing Committee on Professional Conduct and former co-chair of the Boston Bar Association Ethics Committee (1993-2020).

Professor Tremblay’s work centers on professional ethics, transactional practice, and community economic development, with emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and legal services for under-resourced communities. His Community Enterprise Clinic provides vital support to low-income entrepreneurs and nonprofits while advancing experiential legal education through business law and transactional work.

He has mentored generations of law students through clinical programs including the Civil Litigation Clinic, Housing Law Clinic, and Community Enterprise Clinic. As co-author of two nationally adopted clinical textbooks and contributor to the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers’ attorney discipline treatise, his scholarship spans over 35 law review articles addressing ethics and transactional practice.

Professor Tremblay founded and directed the Community Enterprise Clinic within Boston College’s Center for Experiential Learning until 2024, building a legacy of community-focused legal teams serving economic development in marginalized neighborhoods while training students in transactional lawyering.
