Paul Marasco
Associate Professor · Neural-Machine Interfaces
Case Western Reserve UniversityAbout
Dr. Paul Marasco is an Associate Staff Scientist in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute. He directs the Laboratory for Bionic Integration, focusing on neural-machine interfaces for prosthetic limbs. His research develops sensory feedback systems that enable amputees to perceive touch and movement through artificial limbs.
His work combines neural engineering with cognitive science to create prosthetics that users perceive as natural extensions of their bodies. Recent publications examine the complexity of touch perception and neurorobotic integration of sensory feedback in bionic limbs. He received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers for his contributions to amputee rehabilitation.
Dr. Marasco collaborates internationally on projects funded by NIH, DARPA, and the Veterans Administration. His laboratory develops functional assessment metrics for sensory-motor integration technologies and investigates embodiment mechanisms in prosthetic devices.
