About
Paul M. Koenraad is a Full Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), where he leads the Photonics and Semiconductor NanoPhysics group. He serves as Dean of the TU/e Graduate School and previously as Dean of the Honors Academy. His research focuses on atomic-scale characterization of semiconductor nanostructures and impurities, particularly in III-V materials like GaAs and InAs.
- PhD (1990) in Semiconductor Physics from TU/e
- MSc in Physics from Utrecht University
Koenraad's work bridges quantum dots, single-impurity analysis, and optical microscopy, utilizing techniques such as Atom Probe Tomography and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM). Recent projects explore doping mechanisms in GaAs and asymmetric quantum dots for entangled photon generation.
His publications span nanotechnology, quantum mechanics, and condensed matter physics. Awards include the NWO Vici grant (2004), National Atom Probe Facility grant (2012), and Gravitation grant (2014) for integrated nanophotonics research. He has co-authored over 270 scientific papers and written reviews/book chapters.
- Fellow of the American Physical Society (2014)
- NWO Vici Subsidy (2004)
- Gravitation Grant for Integrated Nano-Photonics (2014)
- National Atom Probe Facility Grant (2012)
As Dean of the TU/e Graduate School, Koenraad drives initiatives to enhance student engagement and interdisciplinary research. His collaborations span national and international institutions, focusing on quantum technologies and nanoscale materials science.
