Paul LaPointe

Paul LaPointe is a Professor in the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, where he also serves as Assistant Dean for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows. His research laboratory is based in the Medical Sciences Building in Edmonton, Alberta.

Research Interests: Dr. LaPointe's work focuses on the molecular mechanism of the Hsp90 chaperone system and its role in proteostasis. His lab investigates how co-chaperones (e.g., Aha1, Hch1) and post-translational modifications regulate Hsp90’s function in protein folding, particularly for clients involved in cancer and cystic fibrosis. A second major theme explores how Hsp90 influences tumor immunogenicity through MHC-I antigen presentation.
