Paul Dafydd Jones

Paul Dafydd Jones is a Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Virginia. He also serves as Co-Director of the Project on Religion and Its Publics. His research focuses on Christian theology, Protestantism, liberation theology, and the role of religion in public life.

Education: He holds a B.A. and M.A. from Oxford University, M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He was a DAAD Graduate Research Scholar at Heidelberg University's Wissenschaftlich-Theologisches Seminar.

Research interests include constructive theology, Karl Barth's Christology, and the theological exploration of patience. His recent work includes Patience—A Theological Exploration: Part 1 and co-edited volumes on Karl Barth and liberation theology. He is also engaged in future projects on religion and public ethics.

He co-directs the Religion and Its Publics initiative and contributes to the Explorations in Reformed Theology series. His teaching spans Christian thought, liberation theology, and theological methodology.
