About
Dr. Paul C. Frost is the David Schindler Endowed Professor of Aquatic Science in the Department of Biology at Trent University. His research examines nutrient dynamics in aquatic ecosystems through ecological stoichiometry, with emphasis on freshwater food webs, zooplankton physiology, and lake biogeochemistry. He leads the Frost Lab, which investigates interactions between environmental stressors (e.g., temperature, predation cues) and nutritional constraints in model organisms like Daphnia.
Research interests include:
- Ecological stoichiometry and nutrient limitation
- Limnology and freshwater ecosystem dynamics
- Nutrigenomics and physiological responses to dietary stress
- Urban aquatic ecology and phytoplankton communities
Dr. Frost teaches courses in biological inquiry, limnology, and stoichiometry. He currently supervises 4 graduate students and 7 undergraduates conducting thesis research on topics ranging from hypolimnetic anoxia effects to Daphnia genetics.
