About
Dr. Monika Poxleitner is a Researcher in Aquatic Ecology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München’s Faculty of Biology (Department of Aquatic Ecology). Her work focuses on experimental plankton ecology, phytoplankton-zooplankton interactions, and evolutionary aspects of Daphnia populations. She investigates nutrient use efficiency in phytoplankton communities under phosphorus limitation, analyzing nitrogen compound utilization through lab and mesocosm experiments. Her research contributes to understanding ecological shifts in lakes under anthropogenic nitrogen pollution.
Project Funding: Supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the Cusanuswerk scholarship. Key research areas include species composition, biodiversity, and stoichiometric dynamics in plankton communities. She has conducted field studies at the Seeon Limnological Station (SLS) and collaborates on limnological monitoring projects like the Jellyfish-Sightings initiative.
Contact: Located at Großhaderner Str. 2, Martinsried-Planegg, Germany. Email: poxleitner@biologie.uni-muenchen.de.
