Paul Allan

Dr. Paul Allan is an Associate Head and Senior Lecturer in International Business at the Department of Management within Sheffield Hallam University's College of Business, Technology and Engineering. With over 38 years of professional experience, he holds 5 business and management degrees, including a DBA in Learning and Knowledge, and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD. His expertise focuses on leveraging organizational learning and knowledge systems to enhance strategic competitiveness.

He has taught over 35 business modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, winning four University/College-level teaching awards and receiving multiple nominations. His academic roles include supervising over 100 master’s dissertations and five doctoral theses as Director of Studies.

Research interests span international business strategy, human resource management, and organizational behavior. His publications address knowledge management, recruitment practices, and legal compliance in business operations. He has contributed to policy development across sectors, emphasizing workplace policies, health and safety, and litigation prevention.

Outside academia, Allan served as a Grenadier Guard in the British Army, with postings in Kenya, Canada, Belize, and the Falkland Islands, showcasing exemplary military service. His career uniquely combines academic rigor with real-world industry insights.
