Jaffer Jay Idris

Jaffer (Jay) Idris is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in International Events Management and International Marketing at the Sheffield Business School, part of the College of Business, Technology and Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University. With over 20 years of professional experience across private, public, and voluntary sectors, he specializes in human resource management, business strategy, and operations. He holds a MSc, PGCLTHE, BSc(Hons), CertTESOL, and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and Fellow of the HEA.

His research focuses on innovative teaching practices, cultural and religious differences, and social integration. He teaches modules in marketing, HRM, business strategy, and employability across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Jay has led PG course development, managed employability support, and delivered distance learning programs. His publications span religious tourism, cultural awareness in education, and group work methodologies.

Jay has presented at international conferences and contributed to think tanks like the Sheffield Equality and Race Council. His professional accreditations include CIPD Chartered Membership and FHEA. He also provides external consultancy in HR, training, and mentoring.
