Prof. Dr. Paul Achleitner is an Honorary Professor at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, specializing in Finance and Accounting. He holds a PhD from the University of St. Gallen (1985) and served as a Visiting Fellow at Harvard Business School (1982–1984). His professional career includes roles as CFO of Allianz AG (2000–present), Managing Director at Goldman Sachs (1994–2000), and Manager at Bain & Co. (1984–1988). He has served as Chair of the Deutsche Bank Supervisory Board (2012–2022) and as a Board Member of the WHU Foundation (2005–2010).
His teaching focuses on International Mergers & Acquisitions and Investment Banking, for which he received the 'Best Teacher' award four times at WHU. Research interests include corporate strategy, financial management, and strategic consulting, with contributions to national and international journals. He is a member of multiple supervisory boards and has lectured at the Wirtschaftshochschule Wien (1988–1999).
