Patrick McGrady

Patrick McGrady is a Senior Lecturer in Film at Norwich University of the Arts, specializing in documentary film narrative and historical storytelling. He is also Managing Director of award-winning production company Wavelength Films, producing documentaries for BBC, Sky, and History Channel. His work spans academic teaching and professional filmmaking, focusing on innovative approaches to documentary form and historical exploration.

Education: PG Cert in Academic Practice in Arts, Design & Communication (2018). Professional roles include External Examiner at University of East Anglia (UEA) and former Course Leader at London College of Communication (UAL).

Research interests focus on alternative documentary narratives (linear/non-linear/interactive) and the intersection of history with film. Notable projects include the BAFTA-nominated Stephen Fry & the Gutenberg Press and the theatrically-released Wagner & Me, which won international festival awards.

Grants secured include funding from Arts Council England, Creative England, EU Media Fund, and UNESCO. His films explore themes of cultural identity, historical reinterpretation, and the ethical dimensions of artistic legacy.

Labs/Teams: Wavelength Films, a creative collective producing documentaries, promotional films, and cultural projects. Collaborators include Stephen Fry, Sean Bean, and Felicity Kendal.
