Tim Leandro is a Senior Lecturer in Directing for Film and Television at the School of Arts and Creative Technologies, University of York. With 36 years of experience in television directing, he has worked across genres including documentaries, children’s drama, soap operas, and high-end series for major UK broadcasters like the BBC.
He holds an MA in Screenwriting from Falmouth University, where he developed Metacomet—a historical drama script exploring 17th-century English-Native American relations in New England. This project remains active and seeks production financing. His research emphasizes practical directing techniques, drama narrative structures, and historical storytelling.
Professionally, Tim has directed over 150 television episodes and films, earning two BAFTA nominations and an award for the sci-fi short Tomorrow Calling. His forthcoming book, The Art of Directing: Making Magic in Film and Television (Routledge, 2025), consolidates his industry expertise.
