Patrick Gentile

Dr. Patrick Gentile is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Hope College, teaching courses in Intercultural Communication, Sport Communication, and Qualitative Research Methods. He is affiliated with the interdisciplinary Global Health and Global Studies majors, as well as the Sport Studies minor in the Department of Kinesiology.

Research Interests: His work focuses on intercultural communication within professional sports, examining language barriers, national identity, and cultural fusion. He analyzes media framing of athletes, financial literacy in sports media, and equity in mega-events like the Olympics.

Recent Publications explore topics such as MLB's practices in the Dominican Republic, gender representation in Olympic coverage, and the impact of the pandemic on sports journalism. He collaborates with Hope College students on research projects.
