About
Dr. Patricia Lott is Associate Professor of American Studies, African American and Africana Studies, and English at Ursinus College. Her research examines historical memory of northern complicity in racial slavery through 19th-century cultural artifacts. A 2019-20 Mellon Career Enhancement Fellow, her work interrogates how regional disavowals of slavery constrain contemporary racial politics.
Her interdisciplinary scholarship analyzes legal documents, commercial records, visual culture, and performance traditions to reconstruct forgotten confederacies with slavocracy. Current projects investigate reparations discourse and digital historiography methodologies.
