Pat Tyrer is a Professor at the Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages within the College of Fine Arts and Humanities at West Texas A&M University. She has been with the department since 2002 and serves as the Director of English Graduate Studies.

- Ph.D. in American Literature, Texas Tech University (1998)
Her research focuses on Creative Writing, the recovery of women writers in American literature from early to modern periods, third-wave feminism, film studies, and the impact of technology on pedagogy. She has authored scholarly works such as Evelyn Scott's Contribution to American Literary Modernism 1920-1940 and published two books of poetry.
