About
Pascal Rannou is a Professor at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, affiliated with the Molecular and Atmospheric Spectrometry Group (GSMA) within the UFR Exact and Natural Sciences. His research focuses on planetary atmospheres, including Titan's aerosol dynamics, Mars' water and dust cycles, and climate modeling. He is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF since 2006) and holds an HDR (2006).
Research Interests:
His work integrates observational data from space missions (e.g., Cassini, Mars rovers) with climate models. Key areas include:
- Characterization of Titan's atmospheric aerosols via spectroscopic techniques.
- Development of instruments for in-situ measurements (e.g., PHOBOS-Grunt mission for Mars analysis).
- Study of feedback mechanisms in Titan's atmospheric circulation.
- Mars atmospheric processes, including dust and cloud microphysics.
Awards:
- IUF Membership (2006)
- Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (2006)
Students: PhD advisee Clement Petetin (2007-2010).
Labs/Teams: Principal investigator in the GSMA, collaborating on missions like PHOBOS-Grunt and contributing to planetary exploration instrumentation.
