Dr Panharoth Chhay is a Grant-Funded Researcher at the Centre for Global Food and Resources (CGFAR) within the University of Adelaide's School of Economics and Public Policy. Her work focuses on applied microeconomic analyses of development challenges, including digital financial services in Southeast Asia, rural electrification, clean energy access, and household resilience in low- and middle-income countries. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Kobe University (2021) and previously served as a Research Associate at the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).
Her research spans countries such as Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, and Vietnam, addressing topics like food security, gender disparities, and energy poverty. Publications include high-impact journals like World Development and Energy Economics. She is a member of the Australasian Agricultural & Resource Economics Society.
