Prof. dr. P.W. Chan is a Professor of Design and Construction Management at Delft University of Technology's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. His research focuses on lifecycle thinking in construction projects, socio-technical integration of new technologies, and the socio-economic implications of built environment management. He emphasizes the importance of addressing end-of-life building processes, deindustrialization impacts, and leveraging Big Data for urban resilience.
Chan holds a PhD in construction labor productivity from Heriot-Watt University and has led major projects funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. He previously directed the Management of Projects Research Group at the University of Manchester, overseeing one of the world’s largest MSc programs in construction management. He serves as Editor of Construction Management and Economics and authored Constructing Futures (2010), exploring leadership and futures thinking in construction.
