Oumarou Savadogo is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal. He holds the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Engineering on Applied Solar Technologies and leads the Laboratory of New Materials for Energy and Electrochemistry. His research spans renewable energy, electrochemistry, and materials science, with a focus on solar energy, hydrogen production, fuel cells, and energy storage.
His recent publications analyze techno-economic models for hydrogen production, electrochemical capacitors, and solar energy systems. He has supervised over 25 PhD students and 21 Master's students, including notable works on nickel-tungsten composites, photosensitized solar cells, and lignin extraction processes.
As a member of the Trottier Energy Institute and the Bioperformance Innovation and Analysis Laboratory, Savadogo bridges academic research with global energy challenges. He has developed international training programs in solar technologies and renewable energy, particularly in West Africa, and advocates for structural investments in sustainable energy infrastructure.
