Oscar Cásares is the Susan Taylor McDaniel Regents Professor of Creative Writing and Director of The New Writers Project at the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Liberal Arts. He teaches advanced fiction workshops, short story workshops, and literature courses for writers.

His research and creative work focus on Fiction (short stories and novels) and Nonfiction (personal essays). His books include Brownsville, selected as an American Library Association Notable Book of 2004, and Amigoland, praised by Publisher’s Weekly as a “winning novel.”
