Ondieki Gekara

Ondieki Gekara is an Associate Professor and ARI Campus Coordinator in the Department of Animal & Veterinary Science at Huntley College of Agriculture. His email is ojgekara@cpp.edu, and he holds office hours on M/W 10:00 AM–12:00 PM in Building 2, Room 103. He teaches courses such as AVS 1112, AVS 1114L, AVS 2101, and AVS 4402.

Dr. Gekara earned his BS, MS, and PhD in Animal and Food Sciences from West Virginia University.

His research focuses on animal nutrition, sustainable livestock practices, and agricultural education. Key interests include the nutritional value of plant bioactives, effects of forage on livestock performance, and concentrate supplementation strategies. He also contributes to training programs for military veterans in agriculture.

His publications span topics like organic lamb production, pig nutrition, and grazing management for beef cattle. He is a member of the American Society of Animal Science.
