About
Dr. Leanne Dillard is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in Forage Agronomy at Auburn University's Department of Animal Sciences. Her research focuses on sustainable agricultural systems, forage management, and improving livestock nutrition through innovative agronomic practices. She investigates forage production systems, nutrient cycling in pasturelands, and strategies to enhance beef cattle performance through optimized feeding regimens.
Her research interests span forage physiology, grazing management, soil health, and the application of plant growth-promoting bacteria in sustainable farming systems. She explores the interactions between forage species, environmental factors, and livestock nutrition to develop efficient and environmentally responsible agricultural practices.
Dr. Dillard's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on forage quality assessment, bermudagrass cultivar evaluation, cover cropping systems, and sustainable grazing management. Her work integrates field experiments with nutritional analysis to address challenges in beef cattle production systems across the southeastern United States.
She actively collaborates with agricultural research units and contributes to regional initiatives focused on drought monitoring and sustainable farming practices. Her work helps inform extension programs aimed at improving farm productivity while maintaining environmental stewardship.
