Olga Dovbysh is a Grant-funded Researcher and Principal Investigator at the Aleksanteri Institute - Finnish Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Helsinki. Her work focuses on media control in restricted regimes, algorithmic journalism, and environmental communication. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Higher School of Economics, Moscow, and advanced degrees in media management from Stockholm's Royal Institute of Technology and Moscow's Higher School of Economics.
Her research explores state-media relations, digitalization impacts on journalism, and exiled media ecosystems. Current projects include the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation-funded study on Russian independent journalism in exile, and the ERBIT project examining Big Tech's environmental responsibility.
