Daria Gritsenko

Dr. Daria Gritsenko is an Associate Professor at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Centre for Social Data Science. She holds roles in the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science and the Aleksanteri Institute. Her expertise spans political science, digital humanities, and environmental social science, focusing on how political governance adapts to evolving natural and technological landscapes. She leads projects like the EU/ERC-StG AGAPP initiative and has been awarded the Nils Klim Prize (2021) and the Best Poster Award for Early Career Researchers (2016).

Her research addresses algorithmic governance, climate policy, and energy transitions, with a regional focus on Russia and the Arctic. Notable contributions include studies on algorithmic policing in Kazakhstan, digital governance platforms in Russian cities, and sustainable development in sparsely populated Arctic regions. She actively supervises graduate students and contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives like the Palgrave Handbook of Digital Russia Studies.

Dr. Gritsenko’s work bridges computational methods and traditional social sciences, emphasizing mixed-methods research.
