Olaph Terribile

Olaph Terribile is a visiting academic member of staff at the University of Malta, where he lectures in diplomacy. He concurrently serves as Malta’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva. With a 30-year diplomatic career, he has held roles including personal secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malta and Director of Protocol and Consular Services. He holds an MA in Chinese literature from the University of Hebei, China.

His expertise focuses on diplomatic protocol, international etiquette, and digital diplomacy. Since 2004, he has regularly lectured at Diplo, an organization specializing in capacity-building for diplomacy, delivering courses on protocol procedures and practical exercises in etiquette. He has organized and participated in workshops across Europe and Asia, including events in Azerbaijan, Belgium, and Moldova.

Key professional engagements include the Seminar on Diplomatic Protocol (Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy) (2008), Shaping our Digital Future in Europe (2017), and New Online Course: Diplomatic Protocol and Etiquette (2012). His work emphasizes the intersection of tradition and modernity in diplomatic practices, particularly in digital transformation contexts.
