Olabode Omojola is a Five College Professor of Ethnomusicology at Mount Holyoke College, teaching across the Five College Consortium including Amherst, Smith, and Hampshire Colleges. He earned his B.A. from University of Nigeria, M.A. from University of Ibadan, and Ph.D. from University of Leicester. His research explores African musical traditions with focus on performance practice, music identity, and socio-political contexts.
Research interests center on:
- West African and Yorùbá musical forms
- Creative ethnomusicology methodologies
- Diasporic music expressions
- Intercultural aesthetics in music composition
Significant achievements include directing productions of Yorùbá operas and receiving prestigious fellowships from Harvard's Radcliffe Institute and Germany's Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. His publications appear in leading journals including Ethnomusicology and Black Music Research Journal.
