Jacob Adesina is a doctoral student in the Department of History at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, United States of America. He holds a B.A. in History and International Studies from Osun State University and an M.A. in History from the University of Ibadan. His research focuses on African history, particularly Music and Statecraft in pre-colonial Yorubaland, Slavery and Abolition, and Post-emancipation African communities.
He has collaborated with scholars across Nigeria, Europe, and America, and participated in projects like the University College London's 'African Abolitionism: The Rise and Transformation of Anti-Slavery in Africa (AFRAB)'. His work also explores Yoruba Communities in the Atlantic World, Empires and Wars in Africa, and Social History of Music in Yorubaland.
