Nilo C. Ramos

Nilo C. Ramos is an Associate Professor of Physical Education at Coastal Carolina University, where he serves as the coordinator of the Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program within the College of Education and Social Sciences. With extensive experience from previous faculty positions at Oklahoma State University, Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, Dakota State University, and Emporia State University, as well as direct teaching experience at elementary, middle, and secondary levels, Dr. Ramos brings practical insights to his academic work.

Dr. Ramos earned his Ph.D. in Kinesiology with emphasis in Sport Pedagogy from the University of Georgia in 2013, following a Master of Science (2006) and Bachelor of Arts (2002) in Health and Physical Education from Albany State University. His educational background provides a strong foundation for his research in physical education pedagogy and teacher development.

Dr. Ramos' research program centers on quality physical education, physical activity, and sport instruction, with particular emphasis on teaching and coaching development. His scholarly work explores PE teacher credibility, dispositions and fitness levels of teachers, assessment methodologies in physical education, and the structure of physical education and coaching education programs. His investigations bridge theoretical frameworks with practical applications in educational settings.

Analysis of Dr. Ramos' recent publications reveals a consistent focus on teacher credibility and effectiveness in physical education, with particular attention to how students perceive their instructors.
