Nicole M. Anderson

Nicole M. Anderson, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the SOM-Cell and Molecular Biology Department at The University of Mississippi Medical Center (Jackson, Mississippi). Her research focuses on cancer metabolism, particularly in neuroblastoma and leukemia, utilizing zebrafish models to investigate metabolic vulnerabilities and oncogenic pathways. She holds a PhD in Genetics/Hematopoietic Disease from the University of Toronto (2011) and a BS in Biology from the University of Waterloo.

Key research interests include TCA cycle enzymes (e.g., DLST), tumor microenvironment dynamics, and mechanisms underlying metastasis in high-risk neuroblastoma. Her work integrates metabolic profiling, genetic screening, and pharmacological inhibition to identify therapeutic targets. Recent studies highlight senescence induction in liver cancer and OXPHOS inhibition in neuroblastoma.
