About
Dr. Daisuke Nakada is Professor in Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine and CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research. He holds a Ph.D. from Washington University School of Medicine.
His NIH-funded laboratory studies:
- Metabolic regulation in leukemia stem cells
- Estrogen signaling in hematopoietic regeneration
- CRISPR-based modeling of hematologic malignancies
- Iron metabolism in stress responses
Recent publications identify guanine nucleotide biosynthesis as vulnerability in MLL-rearranged leukemia and characterize iron uptake mechanisms in erythroid regeneration. His team developed efficient CRISPR editing of hematopoietic stem cells for disease modeling.
Honors include Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Scholar Award recognizing work on AMPK in leukemia metabolism.
He mentors graduate students in cancer biology and development, disease models, and therapeutics programs.
