Nicky Lewis

Nicky Lewis serves as an Associate Professor at The Media School, Indiana University Bloomington, where he contributes to media psychology and communication studies. His academic journey includes prior faculty appointments at the University of Miami (FL) and the University of Kentucky before returning to his alma mater.

Dr. Lewis's research program investigates cognitive and emotional responses to media content through the lens of social psychology, with concentrated expertise in sports and entertainment contexts. His work extends to designing and evaluating large-scale public health media campaigns, particularly for opioid use disorder intervention and tobacco cessation initiatives. This dual focus bridges theoretical media effects research with practical applications in health communication.

Prior to academia, Lewis developed industry experience as a sports producer and training coordinator at Cincinnati television stations, where he produced nightly sports broadcasts, created weekly sports programming, and led community television production workshops including after-school video clubs for youth.
