Nick Deutsch serves as Visiting Professor of Oboe at the Royal College of Music's Faculty of Woodwind. An internationally acclaimed oboist, he maintains active performance and teaching engagements across major institutions worldwide while holding his primary position as Professor of Oboe at the Hochschule für Musik 'Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy' in Leipzig.
His research interests center on advanced oboe performance techniques, historical performance practice, and chamber music collaboration. As a performer, Deutsch specializes in both classical repertoire and contemporary works, with particular expertise in orchestral and solo performance contexts across diverse musical traditions.
Deutsch maintains extensive professional networks through his work with prestigious ensembles including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and various radio orchestras across Europe. His performance career spans over 40 countries and all five continents, featuring appearances at major international festivals such as Salzburg Festival, BBC Proms, and Edinburgh International Festival.
As an educator, he has served as guest professor at leading institutions worldwide including Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (Paris), Royal Academy of Music (London), Gnessin School of Music (Moscow), and Central Conservatory of Shanghai. He regularly conducts masterclasses globally and is a founding member of the Hindemith Quintet and collaborator with the Linos Ensemble.
