Nicholas Guenzel

Nicholas Guenzel, PhD, RN, APRN-NP, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Nursing. He began his nursing career in inpatient psychiatric care and later worked as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Lincoln, Nebraska, before joining UNMC in 2016.

Research Interests: Focuses on addiction recovery, mental health disparities, and Native American mental health. His work emphasizes culturally responsive care and access to mental health services for marginalized communities.

Grant Support: Lead Principal Investigator (PI) for the 2020–2023 project Feasibility and Impact of Distance American Indian Peer Recovery Coaches ($39,999).

Service: Provides care in Nebraska Department of Corrections facilities and volunteers at the People's City Mission Free Medical Clinic. Active in the UNMC College of Nursing's Lincoln Division.
