Nicholas A. Kaldis is an Associate Professor and Director of Chinese Studies at Binghamton University, with a courtesy title in the Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP). He specializes in 20th-century Chinese literature, cinema, and translation. His research focuses on aesthetic cognition in Chinese and Taiwanese fiction/film, psychoanalytic theory applied to Chinese cultural production, and Lu Xun studies. He holds a PhD and MA from Ohio State University, an MA from Purdue University, and a BA from Ohio University.

His teaching spans Sinophone cinemas, post-colonial Taiwan studies, and composition.

Collaborated on translating the Taiwanese film Happy Together, bridging Chinese-language cinema with global audiences.
