Nezabravka Gencheva

Prof. Nezabravka Gencheva, Ph.D., is a Full Professor at the V. Levski National Sports Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria, affiliated with the Faculty of Public Health, Health Care and Tourism and the Department of Kinesitherapy and Rehabilitation. Since 1991, she has held academic roles including Senior Assistant (1995), Chief Assistant (1998), Associate Professor (2008), and Full Professor (2016). She served as Department Head from 2008 to 2016. Her teaching spans undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in kinesitherapy, with international collaborations through Erasmus and CEEPUS projects with institutions in Finland, Poland, Croatia, Italy, and others.

Her scientific interests focus on physiotherapy for child development, neurology/psychiatry in children, hippotherapy, adapted physical activity, and inclusive education. She has authored 3 textbooks, 5 monographs, and over 140 articles. Notable works include studies on therapeutic riding for cerebral palsy and ADHD, and rehabilitation techniques for surgical patients. She actively participates in national/international research projects and holds roles in academic councils and professional associations. Prof. Gencheva is fluent in Italian, English, and Russian.

Her research trends emphasize interdisciplinary approaches in rehabilitation, with a focus on neurodevelopmental disorders, pediatric care, and innovative therapies like hippotherapy. Recent articles address postoperative physiotherapy and the application of kinesitherapy in oncology and sports medicine. She has contributed to over 100 scientific forums and co-authored key publications on aggression in youth athletes and distance learning during pandemics.
