Neil Havis

Neil Havis is a Professor at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) within the College of Science and Sustainable Futures (CSS), Department of Crop and Soils. He specializes in plant pathology and crop protection, focusing on fungal diseases like Ramularia leaf spot in barley. His work involves developing disease management strategies, fungicide efficacy, and climate change adaptation in agricultural systems.

He leads major projects such as the RESAS-funded initiatives (2022–2027) addressing pest and disease drivers in Scotland, spore dispersal mechanisms, and policy impacts on plant health. His research also spans international collaborations, including studies in Argentina on Ramularia dynamics.

Recent publications highlight his expertise in disease control, spore dispersal patterns, and regenerative cropping systems. He actively contributes to PhD examinations and serves as a principal investigator on multiple grants.
