Nathan Jankowski

Dr. Nathan Jankowski is an Associate Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong, affiliated with the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences (SEALS) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH). He holds an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) from 2022–2024. His research focuses on Quaternary science, integrating geomorphology, geochronology, and soil micromorphology, with a specialization in optical stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating methodologies.

Current projects involve reconstructing the Lake Mungo lunette's depositional history and collaborating on heritage management in the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area.

Recent publications highlight advancements in OSL methodology, palaeoenvironmental reconstructions, and interdisciplinary studies of archaeological landscapes. His work bridges geoscience and archaeology, emphasizing methodological rigor and cultural heritage preservation.

Grants include ARC DECRA (2022–2026) and ANSTO funding for Lake Mungo analyses. Supervision focuses on palaeoenvironmental and geoarchaeological projects, including a Master of Research on Flores' phytoliths and two PhDs on the Murray Valley and Willandra Lakes phytolith records.
