Narayan Gandedkar

Dr. Narayan Gandedkar is a Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead/Coordinator of Orthodontics at the School of Dentistry, University of Sydney. He holds roles such as Facilitator for Orthodontics Courses under Sydney Health Executive Education (SHEEd). His academic background includes a BDS, MDS (Gold Medalist), and Fellowship in Craniofacial Orthodontics from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. Prior roles include Assistant Professor at SDM College of Dental Sciences (India) and work at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (Singapore).

Research Interests: Focused on 3D applications, cleft and craniofacial anomalies, surgery-first orthognathic approaches, biomaterials, and orthodontic technology. His work integrates virtual surgical planning, wearable devices, and AI in orthodontic education and treatment.

Publications: Over 65 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including co-authorship of Surgery-First Orthodontic Management (Springer, 2019). Key journals reviewed include Scientific Reports, Head & Face Medicine, and Angle Orthodontist.

Awards: Recipient of the Noordhoff Craniofacial Scholarship, Gold Medal (MDS), and multiple awards from Indian and international dental societies.

Teaching & Leadership: Conducted >25 orthodontic workshops and delivered >35 invited lectures globally. Served as Honorary Secretary of the Cleft Lip and Palate Association of Singapore and Principal Investigator for SingHealth Foundation-funded research.

Labs/Teams: Active in craniofacial research and orthodontic education initiatives, collaborating with institutions like NTU Singapore and ACPA (USA).
