Alexandra Papadopoulou

Dr Alexandra Papadopoulou is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Sydney’s School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine and Health. She teaches and supervises graduate and postgraduate students, co-ordinates continuing professional development courses for dental professionals, and conducts impactful clinical and translational research in orthodontics and craniofacial biology.

Research Focus

Dr Papadopoulou’s research spans the biological and clinical spectrum of orthodontics. Her work interrogates orthodontic root resorption, periodontal ligament regeneration, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), clear aligner biomechanics, maxillary expansion, accelerated tooth movement, laser-assisted orthodontics, and craniofacial growth modification. She employs systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, micro-CT imaging, CBCT, smartphone-based 3D facial scanning, and molecular analyses to translate laboratory insights into improved patient care.
