Nancy Rhoden is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of History at Western University. She holds a PhD from Princeton University (1994). Her research focuses on early American history, colonial British history (17th-18th centuries), the American Revolution, religious and social history, political identity formation, and the British Empire's Atlantic World connections. She teaches courses like 'Clashing Empires in North America to 1800' and 'Early America/Atlantic World.'
Her current projects include a monograph on eighteenth-century Philadelphia examining religious toleration, education, and ethnic tensions, as well as studies on Virginia's elite during the Revolution and the historiography of Atlantic integration. She emphasizes student-centered learning, guiding M.A. and Ph.D. candidates in early American and British Atlantic history.
Publications include Revolutionary Anglicanism (1999) and co-edited volumes such as Human Tradition in the American Revolution. Her work explores themes like religious liberty's limits, interdenominational dynamics, and the role of the colonial Church of England.
