Nancy Morawetz

Nancy Morawetz is a Professor of Law at New York University School of Law, where she has served since 1987. She teaches the Immigrant Rights Clinic, focusing on litigation and community advocacy for immigrants. Her research examines detention, deportation, and judicial review in immigration law. Morawetz holds a JD from NYU (1981) and an AB in Economics from Princeton University (summa cum laude, 1976).

Research Interests: Morawetz’s work challenges systemic issues in immigration policy, including the interplay between judicial oversight and enforcement mechanisms. She emphasizes practical solutions through clinic-based advocacy, bridging legal theory and grassroots action.

Advising & Clinics: As director of the Immigrant Rights Clinic, Morawetz oversees students in federal litigation and legislative advocacy. Her pro bono contributions include chairing the Supreme Court Immigration Law Working Group.
