Nancy Kwak is an Associate Professor in the History Department and Urban Studies & Planning Department at the University of California San Diego. She holds a non-resident fellowship at Carnegie California. Her research focuses on housing affordability, urban renewal, transnational planning, and global urban informality. She previously served as President of the Society for American City and Regional Planning History.
Education: BA in History (UC Berkeley), MAT (Harvard Graduate School of Education), PhD in History (Columbia University, 2006).
Her current projects include a study of Southern California agriculture/food systems and a comparative analysis of global urban informality. She has taught at NYU Tandon, Columbia, Barnard, and multiple NYC institutions earlier in her career.
