Dr. Nancy Khalil is an Assistant Professor of American Culture in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan, with a courtesy appointment in the Marsal Family School of Education. She serves as Director of the Research Lab on US Muslims and Higher Education and is a core faculty member of the Program in Arab and Muslim American Studies.
Her research spans Muslim American Studies, Higher Education, and Religious Pluralism, examining themes like religious leadership training, intergenerational religious socialization, and pluralism challenges in American society. She investigates how Muslim communities navigate identity, education, and social inclusion within U.S. institutions.
Dr. Khalil affiliates with the Global Islamic Studies Center, Marsal School's Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education, Diversity Scholars Network, and Harvard University's Pluralism Project. Her lab focuses on Muslim student experiences and institutional dynamics in higher education, bridging academic research with community engagement.
