Nancy Dayne

Dr. Nancy Dayne is a Professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at California State University, Long Beach’s College of Health and Human Services. Her career spans roles such as preschool teacher, assistant director, and center director, blending practical experience with academic research. Current leadership roles include Director of Outreach and Recruitment, Director of the FCS Family Resource Center, and involvement in the Beach Shops Board of Directors and CAFAS Faculty Advisor.

Her research focuses on child development, parent education, teacher training, and student-parent support services, with a strong emphasis on how online and face-to-face instructional settings impact self-efficacy. She has extensively studied the challenges faced by college student parents, including childcare access, mental health, and campus support systems during the pandemic.

Dr. Dayne’s publications highlight trends in parent engagement, child nutrition, and educational equity. Her work spans topics like fatherhood programs, Filipino-American remittance practices, and the psychological well-being of student-parents at Hispanic-serving institutions.
