JinHee Hur

Dr. JinHee Hur is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Development and Family Studies at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), within the College of Health and Human Services. She specializes in early childhood education, with a focus on literacy development among dual language learners and teacher professional development.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Special Education with a minor in Research, Evaluation, and Methodology — University of Florida

• B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs — Purdue University

Research Interests:

Dr. Hur's research is centered on improving early literacy outcomes for children who are dual language learners. She investigates effective instructional strategies and professional development models for educators working with linguistically diverse preschoolers. Additionally, she explores how home literacy environments and parental engagement, particularly in everyday activities like cooking, influence children's early math and literacy skills.
