Mykal Gernaat

Mykal Gernaat serves as a Senior Lecturer of Forensic Science at the University of Providence. They hold an MA in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Montana and are pursuing a Doctorate in Forensic Science through Oklahoma State University. Their teaching portfolio includes courses like Forensic Anthropology, Blood, DNA and Body Fluids, and Physical Evidence Lab Analysis.

Research interests focus on applied forensic methodologies and STEM outreach. They actively engage in community initiatives such as leading forensic activities for Girls in STEM Day, mentoring local Girl Scouts, and presenting to organizations like the Great Falls Rotary Club. On campus, Gernaat chairs the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and serves on the Faculty Resource and Development committee. Professional membership includes the American Academy of Forensic Science.

Outside academia, they enjoy gardening, traveling, attending Griz football games, and paleontology fieldwork with their children.
