Monika Rinck

Prof. Monika Rinck is a faculty member at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM), holding the position of Professor of Literary Writing. She teaches specialist seminars on Eco Poetics and Writing Commission Texts at Heumarkt 14, R.1.07. Her research explores intersections between poetry, environmental discourse, and interdisciplinary art practices.

Education: Studied General & Comparative Literature, Religious Studies, and German Studies at Ruhr University Bochum, Free University Berlin, and Yale University. Notable roles include visiting professorships at the Free University of Berlin (2021) and the University of Applied Arts Vienna (2020–2023).

Research Interests: Eco-poetics, commissioned texts, translation studies, and experimental writing. Current projects include the BEGRIFFSSTUDIO series and curatorial work in literary festivals. Her work blends critical material with poetic innovation, addressing themes like climate change and cultural transformation.

Awards: Kleist Prize (2015), Ernst Jandl Prize (2017), Berlin Literature Prize (2021), and Friedrich Hölderlin Prize (2022). Member of Berlin Academy of Arts and German Academy for Language and Literature.

Grants & Fellowships: Fellow at Cologne's Morphomata Center (2016/17), curator of Poetica III (2016/17), and co-curator of ROUGH TRANSLATION conference (2023).
