Monica Rouse, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Western Illinois University (WIU) and coordinator of the master's program in educational leadership leading to principal certification. She teaches courses in the MSED program, specializing in special education law and the exceptional individual. Her research focuses on drop-out prevention, alternative education, and trauma-informed classrooms, advocating for non-traditional educational models. Previously, she worked at the Iowa Department of Education and held leadership roles as a principal and teacher in Illinois schools.
