Molly Warsh is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on world history, early modern Atlantic studies, and environmental humanities. She holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University.
Her work examines global interconnectedness through studies of commodities, empires, and environmental systems. Key projects include American Baroque (2018) analyzing Caribbean pearl fisheries' global impacts, and her current book project Servants of the Seasons exploring itinerant labor's role in shaping the modern world. She also edits the Journal of Early Modern History.
Teaching interests include global piracy, empires and environment, and the global Caribbean. Her research bridges regional and global frameworks to explore premodern ecological and economic systems. Current scholarship emphasizes labor patterns and seasonal cycles across early modern Iberian and Atlantic contexts.
